Intra-Prostatic Injection of Epinephrine during Transurethral Resection of Prostate Reduces Blood Loss and Need for Blood Transfusions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: To assess the role of Intraprostatic injection epinephrine intra-operatively in patients undergoing TURP decreasing blood loss and need for subsequent transfusions. Design: A double-blind, randomized controlled trial. Place duration study: The Kidney Centre Postgraduate Training Institute, Karachi, from March till August 2020. Methodology: total 40 were chosen at random divided into two groups equal size. One group got an intra-prostatic epinephrine, whereas other received a standard saline injection. Both evaluated terms prostate volume (ml), resected tissue (gms), surgical resection time (minutes), pre post-operative Hemoglobin (HB), Hematocrit (HCT) levels. Intra-operative was then quantified using last variables. Transfusion requirement both also recorded. Results: Mean +Age Group B 66.30+9.24years 65.65+7.43years, respectively, with no significant difference between (p=0.808). Median IQR Prostatic 68.0, 15, 64.0,21, suggesting statistically (p=0.372). + S.D Loss HB 1.15 0.42 1.87+1.04, (p=0.007). post-op HCT 3.16+1.50 4.81+2.79, revealing (p=0.026). No needed transfusions, six had indicating statistical distinction (p=0.001). Conclusion: use leads to reduced subsequently operative time, irrigation fluid usage, transfusion during TURP. It allows greater amount prostatic be resected. Keywords: Transurethral Prostate, Epinephrine, Blood transfusion, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit.

Blood loss during and after transurethral resection of prostate: a prospective study.

OBJECTIVES Transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) is the gold standard treatment for symptomatic prostatic bladder outlet obstruction. Haemorrhage during and after TURP can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of anaesthesia, operating time, weight of resected prostatic tissue and its histology on blood loss during and after TURP...

Tranexamic acid decreases blood loss during transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR -P)

INTRODUCTION Postoperative blood loss after prostate surgery is thought to be associated with an increase in urinary fibrinolytic activity. Tranexamic acid (TXA) is both a potent inhibitor of plasminogen and urokinase activators and a low molecular weight substance that is excreted unchanged in the urinary tract and can be administered both orally and intravenously. We investigated the effect o...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Effects of preoperative methoxamine on blood loss and haemodynamic variables during transurethral prostatic resection under spinal anaesthesia.

Thirty-six patients who presented for transurethral prostatic resection were allocated randomly to one of two groups. Patients in group A were given methoxamine 10 mg i.m., 15 min before spinal anaesthesia. Patients in group B acted as a control group. All patients received spinal anaesthesia. Preoperative administration of methoxamine 10 mg i.m. decreased blood loss significantly and improved ...
